On the road heading west…

After the ice storm in KS left the area, we headed south to Ft. Worth to see another “sistah”…on the way stopping in OK for a few days.  Nicer weather allowed for some window and clothes washing plus dusting & vacuuming of our Fiver…about time!

Original plan was to stay at another Corps of Engineers park on the Kerr Reservoir in Benbrook TX.   We called ahead and were told they might be flooded from the week’s prior storm that had sent the Brazos River draining all over the place.  This is the check in gate…!

So, we went to Weatherford about 25 miles west of our destination to a RV park that had a trailer service business on the same plot of land.  There were a lot of people living there in trailers…sort of like a trailer museum with many examples of different styles and ages. Not your normal KOA park off the interstates!

It is fun and rather bittersweet to see towns whose busier days might have gone away.  In Texas and the mid west there are many towns with downtown squares and the county seats have architectural statements, including Weatherford.  A difference that we have not seen before was parking areas in each corner of the square.  Wonder if that was added during re-vitalizing the downtown square, OR was it designed that way originally?

After a few days of visiting, we finally are heading west…after going a bit northwest towards the panhandle of Texas.
